Green Tea vs Coffee, Which is Better for You?

Coffee and green tea containing different amounts of caffeine, antioxidants, and both have great health benefits. Both are safe and healthy for consumption, except for pregnant women who may need to limit their caffeine intake to less than 200 mg per day as recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.


Although both contain caffeine, coffee has a greater amount. A cup of coffee contains 100-150 mg of caffeine, while a cup of green tea contains about 26 mg.

There really is conflicting evidence about green tea to be protective against cancer. Coffee may reduce the likelihood of liver cancer and colorectal cancer. However, liver cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the world, while colorectal cancer is the fourth. It was quite significant.

Green tea can slow cognitive decline in the elderly in smaller doses, while coffee only show the same effect after drinking large amounts. In addition, the total intake of caffeine in people seemed to have a great effect on preventing Parkinson’s in men; ranging 32-60% risk reduction

Green tea is also lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol. Finally, green tea drinkers have up to 31% lower risk of heart disease.
